PRINCETON – Roger P. Lyons, 76, of Princeton, died on Friday, April 1, 2005, in the UMass Memorial Medical Center.
He leaves his wife of over 51 years, Caroline (Wiggins) Lyons of Princeton; four daughters, Diane Connor and her husband Robert of Auburn, Cheryl Marzziotti and her husband Dominick of Grafton, Patricia LaFleur and her husband James of Sterling, and Pamela Druzbicki and her husband Richard of Sutton; three brothers, M.E. Forgett of Vancouver, WA, Harry Lyons of Phenox, AL, and Paul Lyons of Princeton; seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was born in Westboro, attended Princeton schools, and had been a resident of Princeton for over 50 years.
For 40 years, he was a civil engineer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, until his retirement. He was an active member in the Princeton community, serving on the Board of Health, Light Commission, Building Committee for the Thomas Prince School, Conservation Commission, a volunteer on the Fire Department and was an EMT. From 1947-1950 he served with the U.S. Army during the Occupation of Japan.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, golf and vacationing with his family in Maine. He was also a pilot who enjoyed many hours flying out of Sterling Airport.
The funeral service Mr. Lyons will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 4, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Burial will take place in the spring at Woodlawn Cemetery, Connor Lane, Princeton. Calling hours are from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, in the funeral home.
