SOUTH YARMOUTH - Robert E. Fife, age 75, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 6, 2023. Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Clifford W. and Dorothy A. (Briggs) Fife.
Bob grew up in Holden, graduating from Wachusett Regional High School, class of 1966. He attended Worcester Junior College before meeting the love of his life, Sandra L. Morrill. The two married in 1970 and moved to Rutland, where they lived for over 30 years in the house that he built. He worked for over 48 years at KomTek Forge in Worcester as a project manager and as a self-taught IT specialist.
Bob was an avid model train collector and train enthusiast. In his travels, he would make stops at train yards with his wife by his side. He could do anything he put his mind to, and in his spare time he was always tinkering, fixing or building something.
Bob loved his family. As a father and grandfather, he was patient and kind, always a teacher and a playmate. His wife was his soul mate and his best friend, and there was nothing he would not do for her. Later in life, they moved to Cape Cod where he became an active member of the Dennis-Harwich Lions Club.
He is survived and will be lovingly missed by his wife, Sandra L. (Morrill) Fife; 2 daughters, Lisa L. Lange of Rutland, Linda L. Erickson and her husband, Tom of Paxton; a sister, Viola T. Wardell and her husband, Andrew of Worcester; 7 grandchildren, Meghann, Casey, Tim, Emily, Scott, Nick, and Jake; and his Australian shepherd, Murphy. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, Clifford Fife, Jr. and a sister, Annette Fife.
The family would like to thank the care and compassion of the VNA Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod over the last few months.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 21, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, with burial following at Rural Cemetery in Rutland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dennis-Harwich Lions Club, P.O. Box 41, Dennisport, MA 02639.
