PAXTON – Oscar L. Noel, 87, of 224 West Street, died on Sunday, June 5, 2005, in the Jewish Healthcare Center after a brief illness.
He leaves his wife of 35 years, Mildred L. (McCracken) Noel; a brother, Paul Noel of Holden; three sisters, Madeline Jansson of West Boylston, Lucille Meacham of Spencer, and Teresa Ayler of Worcester; many loved nephews and nieces, grandnephews and nieces. Three sisters, Germaine Caracciolo, Gabriel Fletcher, and Dorothy Proulx, predeceased him. He was born in Plessisville, Quebec, Canada, and has lived in Worcester, Auburn and Jefferson before moving to Paxton 28 years ago. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Diamond Division, 10th Infantry, in the European theater. He was awarded four bronze stars and the bronze star medal.
Mr. Noel founded Noel’s Autobody Shop in Worcester in 1945, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Columba Church, American Legion Post 341 in the Main South section of Worcester, the Frohsinn Club in Shrewsbury and the Greendale Retired Men’s Club in Worcester.
The funeral for Mr. Noel will be held on Thursday, June 9, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Columba Church, 18 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery, 251 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, in the funeral home.
