Pembroke/Holden - Miriam Christine “Mim” (Blake) Roeder, 84, died peacefully on May 4, 2022, at her residence in Pembroke. She was born on December 27, 1937, and raised in Braintree, the daughter of Charles A. Blake and Priscilla (Vadeboncoeur) Blake. For seventy-five years Mim summered at her beloved family cottage on Fourth Cliff in Humarock. The Cliff was a joyful place for Mim and she loved hosting her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren there every summer. Mim’s annual Fourth of July cook-outs were legendary and filled with great food, fantastic fireworks, and endless good cheer.
Mim was a graduate of Braintree High School and attended UMass Amherst. She later earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Worcester State College. In 1965 she and her husband, Harold “Bud” Roeder, Jr. moved to Holden where they raised four sons. Mim was an active member of the Holden community. She was a long-time substitute teacher for the Wachusett School District, a tireless volunteer at the Gale Free Library, a member of the Holden Republican Town Committee, and an enthusiastic supporter of Holden youth sports. Mim was a master quilter whose quilts were created with true artistry and given lovingly to countless friends and relatives to mark important milestones in their lives. Mim cherished her role as a grandmother and was often seen cheering on her granddaughters and grandsons at their various athletic events.
Mim will be missed greatly and remembered by her sons, Douglas and his wife, Lisa of Durham, NH, David and his wife, Jennifer of Marshfield and Harold III and his wife, Eva of Nelson, NH; as well as her ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Mim was predeceased by her husband, Bud; her son, Donald; her brother, Robert Blake; and her sisters, Lora Harding and Barbara Johnson.
