S Miriam 'Mim' (Robertson) Smith

PRINCETON – Miriam "Mim" (Robertson) Smith, 86, died on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA.

Her husband of nearly 54 years, Leonard I. Smith, died in 1999. She leaves her four children, Bruce R. Smith of New York, NY, Margaret "Peggy" Smith of West Roxbury, MA, David M. Smith of Vancouver, B.C. and Elizabeth "Betty" (Smith) Beaumont and her husband John P. of Harborcreek, PA; three grandchildren, Mary Beaumont, Alex Beaumont and his wife Mandy and Richenda Smith. She was the sister of the late (George) David Robertson, and is survived by her sister, Frances (Robertson) Amidon and her husband Dean P. Amidon of Monterey, MA. She was born on April 15, 1923 in Worcester, MA, the daughter of the late George and Frances (Kyes) Robertson.

Miriam moved to Princeton with her husband Len in 1948 and worked for over 10 years for Dr. Warren Trow of West Boylston. She was co-chairman of the Princeton Council on Aging and active in senior affairs in Princeton. As a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Holden, she was actively involved in the Women's Fellowship, Doers Circle and Lydian League. She helped co-found the first Princeton kindergarten when it was not yet part of the public school system and was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader. An accomplished soprano soloist, avid gardener, knitter and reader, Mim was a generous and compassionate individual and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 3rd in the First Baptist Church of Holden, 1216 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, MA 01520. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Holden. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
