Biography
PAXTON – Melissa A. Hoey-Setterlund, 44, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 after an illness. She was born and raised in Worcester and had lived in Worcester before moving to Paxton.
She leaves her loving husband of 19 years, Matthew J. Setterlund; three children, Zachary, Shannon and Riley Setterlund; her parents, John J. and Donna M. (Redmond) Hoey; two brothers, Michael and Ryan Hoey; a sister, Michele Hoey, all of Worcester; her grandmother, Stella "Babcia" Hoey of Worcester; several nephews and nieces, including Brianne Hoey of Paxton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Melissa graduated from St. Peter Marian High School and she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business from Assumption College, both in Worcester. She was a medical claims examiner at UltraBenefits, Inc in Worcester for thirteen years before her illness. Previously, she worked at Allmerica Financial.
At her request, funeral services are private and will be followed by a committal service at Mooreland Cemetery in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mass General Hospital Development Office, Attn: Colon Cancer Research, 100 Cambridge Street, Suite 1310, Boston, MA 02114.
