HOLDEN – Norma L. (Allen) Johnson Kemp, 83, formerly of Holden, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in the Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on May 28, 2007.
She leaves her husband, Howard W. Kemp, Jr. of Crystal River, Florida; three sons, Stephen A. Johnson of Windham, New Hampshire, Charles T. Johnson of Holden and Daniel P. Johnson of Rutland; four daughters, Louise N. Howland of West Boylston; Gayle L. Roy of Winthrop, Maine, Kim E. Oswald of Austin, Texas and Paula L. McCorkle of Holden; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her first husband, Ralph L. Johnson, died in 1980. She was pre-deceased by her five sisters, Dorothy Locke, Barbara Yanche, Thelma Marean, Ruth Thompson and Gertrude Grenier. She was born in Rutland, daughter of Jesse C. and Florence R. (Johnston) Allen, and lived in Holden for 40 years before retiring to Florida. She graduated from Rutland High School and Salter Secretarial School, Worcester.
Norma worked for Marsh-Kemp Insurance Agency in Worcester for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holden where she was active in women’s groups and at the annual church fair bake table. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed knitting and golf.
A memorial service for Norma will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 2nd, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be at Grove Cemetery, Main Street, Holden, at the convenience of the family. Flowers may be sent or donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Mass.
