LEICESTER – John Marengo, 85, died on Friday, February 24, 2023, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus, after a brief illness.
John was born in Worcester, the son of Raymond and Blanche (Kelman) Marengo and was a lifelong resident of Central Massachusetts. He leaves his siblings, brother Ray and his wife Paula of Boylston; sister Carol Fisher of Worcester; sister Patricia and her husband Kenneth Hannam of Worcester; and brother Bobby of Boylston.
After graduating from Commerce High School, John proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, earning the rank of Senior Airman. Following his military service, he pursued a decades-long career as a Fiber Optics Designer for Luxtec Corporation, designing the optics for medical equipment. He then went to work for Accutrac in Leicester. After retiring, he worked Saturdays at Overlook Services. The last few years he volunteered at the Leicester Recycling Center.
John will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife of 57 years, Jean (Armstrong) Marengo of Cherry Valley; his son Joe and his granddaughter Liv, of Spencer; his daughter, Jennifer Keevan and her husband, Scott and grandson Sam of Rutland and his son, John and his wife Toni of Hubbardston; a very special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gail and Donald MacKenzie of Eddington, Maine; and several nieces and nephews and their children.
Services will be private. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home of Holden.
