Holden - Jeffrey R. Hazelwood, 78, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, Worcester. He was born in Worcester, the son of Robert B. and Ann (Reardon) Hazelwood and grew up in the Main South neighborhood in Worcester.
Jeffrey graduated from South High School with the class of 1962 and went on to attend the Worcester Industrial Institute. He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard before going to work at the former Norton Co. as a Press Operator. Jeffrey married his one true love, Venetia R. (Altomare) and the couple built their home in Holden. Together they raised four children and shared 53 years of marriage.
Jeffrey was a member of St. George Church in Worcester and the American Legion Post 341 on Main Street in Worcester. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Winnipesaukee. Jeffrey was also a skilled golfer and enjoyed taking cruises with his beloved, Venetia. Above all he was a very proud grandfather and great-grandfather.
Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Venetia R. (Altomare) Hazelwood; his sons, Jeffrey Hazelwood, Jr. and his wife, Michelle of Andover, James Hazelwood and his wife, Michelle of Rutland, Joseph Hazelwood and his wife, Michelle of Holden and Dennis Hazelwood and his wife, Kathleen of Holden; his brothers, Ronald Hazelwood and his wife, Judy of Shrewsbury and John Hazelwood of Holden; his sister, Judyth Barrett of Holden; his sister-in-law, Gloria Murin of Fitchburg; his grandchildren, Anna, Lily, Alexandra, Giana, Rachel, Lauren and Jackson; Step-grandchildren, Bridget, Owen, Elizabeth and Brendan; and his Step-grandchildren, Joseph, Anthony and Vivian.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022, at St. George Church, 40 Brattle St., Worcester. Burial will be private.
