PAXTON – Janice (Stone) Ahearn, 75, died Saturday, February 14, 2004, in her home surrounded by her beloved family, after a brave battle with cancer.
She leaves her husband of 56 years, George F. Ahearn, Sr.; her seven children, Paula A. Schur and her husband Peter of Paxton, Mark G. Ahearn and his wife Cynthia of Paxton, Holly J. Enman and her husband, James of Auburn, Timothy J. Ahearn and his wife Donna of North Brookfield, Michael J. Ahearn and his wife, Margaret of Paxton, Mary J. Woodis and her husband Steven of Spencer, and George F. Ahearn, Jr. and his wife Deanna of Oakham; 22 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Jean Ford of Sarasota, FL; a brother, John Stone of Venice, FL; many nieces and nephews. She was born and raised in Worcester the daughter of Fillmore A. and Mary (Statz) Stone and lived 57 years in Paxton.
Mrs. Ahearn graduated from South High School in Worcester. She and her husband owned and operated Juniper Mist Dairy Farm in Paxton retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Columba Church in Paxton, its Women’s Guild and taught Confraternity of Christian Education classes for many years. She served on the board of the Paxton Council on Aging, a member of the Friends of the Richard’s Memorial Library, and the Red Hat Society all of Paxton. She was an avid reader and an expert quilter, receiving many awards for her quilts.
The funeral Mass for Mrs. Ahearn will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2004, in St. Columba Church, 10 Richards Avenue, Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made the Friends of the Richard’s Memorial Library, 44 Richards Avenue, Paxton, MA 01612. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is directing arrangements.
