HOLDEN, MA / CRYSTAL RIVER, FL � John �Jack� �Red� W. McLaughlin, Jr., 76, of Crystal River, Florida, formerly of Holden died on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 after a long illness.
His wife, Mary (Harrahy) McLaughlin died in 1999 and his son, James N. McLaughlin died in 2009. He leaves his daughter, Kelley E. Harris and her husband Timothy of Holden; three sisters, Alice Robichaud of Holden, Jane Whittles of Holden and Ruth M. Welsh of Beverly Hills, Florida; two grandchildren, Jonathan W. and Meghan E. Harris both of Holden; a niece and several nephews. He was born and raised in Holden the son of John W. and Helen M. (Jones) McLaughlin and lived here most of his life until moving to Crystal River in 2003.
Jack graduated from Holden High School in 1952 and then served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. From 1971 to 1985, Jack owned and operated Holden Rubbish Removal. He later worked for the Massachusetts State Police at the Holden barracks and the MDC in Belchertown. He was a past president of the Holden Lion�s Club, a friend of Bill W. and a 26-year member of AA. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Citrus Springs VFW.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 1st in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral service for Jack will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 2nd, in the funeral home will burial following in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary�s Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 2200, Jefferson, MA 01522.
