WORCESTER – Dr. Glenn A. Meltzer, age 84, died on Sunday, February 2nd , 2025, at The Oasis at Dodge Park in Worcester, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Worcester, Glenn was the son of Dr. Adolph and Paula (Dorfman) Meltzer and was a lifelong resident of Worcester. He graduated from Worcester Academy in 1957 and from Clark University with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1962. After graduating from Weill Cornell University Medical College in 1966, he completed his residency in Ophthalmology in NY. He then served in the United States Public Health Service in New Orleans, LA and Staten Island, NY.

Glenn then moved back to Worcester and in 1972 he established the Meltzer Eye Care Center. It was with great pride that he was joined in his practice by his son, Dr. Jeremy Meltzer in 2004.

In 2006 Glenn was awarded the Dr. Felix Cataldo Lifetime Achievement Award. This honor recognizes physicians with a lifelong commitment to caring for all patients, regardless of their income and is given by the Family Health Center of Worcester, which provides access to affordable healthcare for all residents, especially culturally diverse populations. As an accomplished multi-linguist, Dr. Meltzer spent his career providing compassionate care to the ever-changing and diverse community of central Massachusetts. During his 40 years in practice he delighted in serving multiple generations of families.

Glenn was passionate about learning and pursued many hobbies and interests throughout his life. He was an accomplished artist, and enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife for many years, as well as boating and swimming on Lake Winnipesaukee.

Glenn will be lovingly missed and remembered by his devoted wife of 59 years, Toni (Klatzko) Meltzer, his beloved children, Rachel Morgenstern and her husband Joel of Medway, and Dr. Jeremy Meltzer and his wife, Shirley of Sudbury, his cherished grandchildren, Lila and Zoe Morgenstern, and Avi, Viggo, and Lev Meltzer, as well as his sister, Naomi Rubin of PA.

Family and friends will gather to honor Glenn’s remarkable life at a Memorial Service at 12:00 PM on Friday, February 7th at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Interment will be private. Memorial Observance will be announced.
