STERLING - Gerald J. Peasha, Sr., 78, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at UMass Memorial Healthcare – University Campus, Worcester.
His loving wife and best friend of 40 years, Judith E. (Listowich) Peasha, passed away in 2005. He leaves two sons, Gerald J. Peasha, Jr. and Kenneth M. Peasha and his wife Shelly of Fitchburg; two daughters, Tambralynn Kreitzman and her husband Daniel and Cynthia Lea and her longtime companion Al Dudley, all of Sterling; a brother, Vern Peasha and two sisters, Kathryn Peasha and Darlene Fransen, all of MN; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nephews, nieces and his best friend “Flag”.
Gerald was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Vern M. and Kathryn (Dougherty) Peasha and joined the Navy in 1952. He served aboard the USS Pittsburgh, USS Mount Baker and the tanker USS Ashtabula during the Korean Conflict. He co-owned Wyndhaven Farm with his wife Judith for many years. He also worked as a foreman at Pinefall Landscaping. Gerald was a member of St. Richard of Chichester Church and just loved to work around the farm with his dog “Flag”.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Funeral services for Gerald will be held from the funeral home on Monday, October 21, with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sterling Fair Committee, P.O.
