RUTLAND - Gary P. Olson, loving father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend to many, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, September 17. He was 59.
Born in Worcester, Gary spent his childhood in the Greendale section of the city, graduating from Burncoat High School. He move to Rutland soon after where he raised his family and lived for the rest of his life. Growing up, Gary's passion was cars. He worked for many years at Consumer Auto Parts and Harr Ford, both in Worcester, and was most recently employed with Berteria Nissan in Auburn. He was an immense NASCAR and Red Sox fan, and cherished his yearly trips with his family to York Beach, ME, a tradition that spanned for 28 years.
Gary cared deeply for his family and was a loving papa to his grandson Timmy. He was very social and likeable, and could make a friend anywhere he went. He was a member of the SAC (Scandinavian Athletic Club) in Shrewsbury and a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holden.
He will be lovingly missed by his son, Kevin Olson and his wife, Meghan of Jefferson; his daughter, Sarah Foster and her husband, Aaron of Westminster; his father, Kenneth Olson and his partner, Carolyn Graham; two brothers, Greg Olson and his wife, Jessica of Holden, Glen Olson and his wife, Kyoko of Glendale, AZ; one grandson, Timothy Olson; and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother, Marion E. (Thyberg) Olson.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 22nd at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 23rd at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury St., Holden.
