STERLING – Florence “Flo” (Jones) Noponen-Coughlin, 82, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2021 at HealthAlliance Leominster after an illness.
Florence was born in Weymouth, the daughter of Frank and Christine K. (Blair) Jones. She was a secretary for nineteen years at the Sterling Department of Public Works before retiring. Previously, she worked at the First Church in Sterling and Leominster Hospital.
Her husband, Arthur Coughlin, passed away in 2014. She is survived by her daughter, Christine Arsenault and her husband, Joseph of Sterling; her son, David Noponen and his wife, Sarah of Naples, FL; her grandchildren, Alex, Evan, Benjamin, Ryan and Natalie; her great grandson, Brooks; her brother, Richard Jones of Cheshire, CT; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, August Noponen; her son, John Noponen, her brother, Robert Jones and her sister, Sylvia Wilson.
Florence’s family would like to extend a thank you to all the staff and doctors for their care and compassion over the last few years.
A graveside service for Florence will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 22nd at Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road, Sterling. A reception will follow at the First Church in Sterling, which is located at 6 Meeting House Hill Road. Due to Covid-19 restrictions and for everyone’s safety, appropriate social distancing and wearing of a mask will be required. Arrangements are under the care of the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling.
