Biography
WORCESTER – Fannie (Kravitz) Smalley, 99, died at the Jewish Healthcare Center on Thursday, October 20, 2016. Born in New York City, Fannie was the daughter of Samuel and Jennie (Zolt) Kravitz and lived over 80 years in Worcester.
Her husband, Jack Smalley died in 1996. She leaves, three nephews, Larry Kravitz and his wife, Paula of Stoneham and Alan Kravitz and his wife, Jane of Rye Beach, NH and David Meyers and his wife, Ellen of Worcester; a niece, Diane Doerfler and her husband, Len of Shrewsbury; three grandnephews, Christopher J. Kravitz and his wife Nicole of Stoneham; Scott Kravitz and his wife Jennifer of Winthrop, Steven Doerfler of Shrewsbury; and three grandnieces, Tara Coyne and her husband Travis of Stoneham; and Rena Kravitz of Las Vegas and Jessica Doerfler of Shrewsbury; three great-grandnephews, Tyler Coyne, Dillon and Nathan Kravitz; and one great-grandniece, Talia Coyne. Besides her parents, Fannie was predeceased by her brother, Sidney Kravitz and his wife Beatrice of Delray Beach, Fl.
For many years she and her husband owned and operated Smalley’s Market located on Upsala Street in Worcester. Fannie enjoyed spending time with her nephews and nieces baking for them during the holidays. She will be remembered for her gentle and kind nature and her devotion to her family and her faith.
GRAVESIDE FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 10:30AM ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2016 AT HOLY SOCIETY CEMETERY ON CEMETERY ROAD IN LEICESTER UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN.
