Edward S. Ganek

WORCESTER - Edward S. Ganek, 96, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara (Caplin) Ganek. Born and raised in Boston, Ed was the son of Louis and Fanny (Schlane) Ganek and lived the last 70 years in Worcester.

Ed was the loving father of Laura Dunlap and her late husband Vernon (Dennis) of Wakefield RI, Frances Ganek and Mark Ganek both of Worcester, and devoted grandfather of Mattie Weeden and her husband Seamus of Pawtucket RI, and Joshua Dunlap of Wakefield RI.

Ed had a passion for eating, and it made sense that his career was focused around food service, distribution, and merchandising.
He began as a grocery store deli manager. With his flair for creativity and a strong business sense, he progressed to positions as a service deli/seafood director in RI and head buyer/assistant director of purchasing in Worcester.

He loved traveling with Barbara, the love of his life. One of their favorite spots to visit was Ogunquit, ME, returning many times over the years. Telling corny jokes and making people laugh was a great joy for him. Rest in peace Ed.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 26, at 11:00 am at B'nai Brith Cemetery, 55 St. John's Road, Worcester. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association MA/NH Chapter, 320 Nevada St., Suite 201, Newton, MA 02460. Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Perlman Center at Miles Funeral Home in Holden.
