Douglas Lowell Kimball

October 9, 1968 — August 11, 2022

HOLDEN - Douglas Lowell Kimball, 53, of Holden, MA, passed away unexpectedly on August 11, 2022. Doug was raised in Paxton before moving to Holden in 2001.

Doug was born on October 9, 1968, in Norfolk, VA while his parents were in the Air Force. Doug leaves behind his children Lauren and Ethan and his parents Gail Price Kimball and Ralph Kimball, Jr. of Paxton. He leaves his brother Michael Kimball and wife Joyce as well as his niece Julia and nephew David. Doug also leaves behind Lauren and Ethan's mother, Sandra Flynn of Holden.

Doug truly enjoyed the life of entrepreneurship. In 2010, he invented and patented a new type of ice skate guard which he called Skaboots ( www.skaboots.com ). He sold and marketed the product himself until he sold the company in 2019. Following this endeavor, he founded Res Serv Company in which he provided residential construction services to the local community. Prior to his independent pursuits, Doug enjoyed his career in sales for numerous print, paper, and hydraulics companies.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed reading, golf, skiing, fishing, and breakfast with the Holden "Senators". His passion for fishing propelled him to win the Shaw Largemouth Bass Open Championship in 2020. Doug also especially enjoyed ballroom dancing every Tuesday and Saturday evenings.

Doug graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1986 and from Nichols College in 1990, with his Bachelor's in Marketing. At Nichols, Doug was on the Dean's list and played rugby, much to his mother's consternation. Following graduation, he spent a year in Vail, CO as part of the snow making team while teaching skiing lessons and enjoying skiing himself. While at Wachusett, he played football and contributed greatly to the team off and on the field.

The family will hold calling hours on Friday, August 26th from 4 PM to 7 PM at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St, Holden.
