WORCESTER - Donald A. Hodes of Worcester MA, age 88 passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024, after a long and hard fought battle with cancer. He was married to Nancy Hurwitz Hodes for 57 years. Nancy passed away in November 2016. He was the son of the late Louis & Nettie (Teicher) Hodes.
He was the father of Karen Turk and her husband, Jeffrey Turk of Charlotte, NC, Adam Hodes and his wife Lisa of Westport, CT and Jennifer Reich and her husband Benjamin of Rivervale, NJ. He was the grandfather of Gillian and Matthew Hodes, Lauren Hodes Schneider (Jason), Emily and Diana Turk, Samuel and Mollie Reich. And great grandfather to Jack Tate Schneider.
He is survived by his Sister Carol Ann Scioli (Ronald) of Naples, FL and brother Barry Hodes (Deanna) of Worcester, MA.
Don graduated from Worcester Academy in 1954, and then earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Boston University - College of Communications in 1958. While at Boston University he was President of Phi Alpha Fraternity, and a member of the University Inter Fraternity Council.
From 1954-61 he was in the U.S. Army Reserves 9125th Quartermaster Training Center stationed at the Boston Army Base. In 1961 Don started an Advertising and Marketing Agency with offices in Worcester and Chestnut Hill. The agency serviced local, regional and national accounts. Don was active in many civic and charitable organizations.
Don and his wife Nancy travelled extensively throughout the United States, as well as Asia, the Canadian Rockies, Europe, the Panama Canal and Israel. They enjoyed their vacation home in Ogunquit, Maine and scores of local day trips.
Family and friends will gather for a Graveside Funeral Service at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 22nd at B’nai Brith Cemetery, 55 St. John’s Road, Worcester. Arrangements are in the care of Miles Funeral Home of Holden.
