WORCESTER – David A. Finkel, 84, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. Born and raised in Brighton, David was the son of Max and Jennie (Paul) Finkel and lived the last 57 years in Worcester.
David was a graduate of Brookline High School and furthered his education at Boston University before earning his PhD from the University of Massachusetts. He spent many years as a clinical psychologist at Worcester State Hospital, retiring in 2001.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. David found joy in attending his grandchildren’s events and was admired for his kind and gentle manner.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy F. (Markoff) Finkel; two daughters, Leslie E. Quinn and her husband Christopher of Holden, and Liz McCarthy and her husband, David, of Worcester; and five cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Emma, and Hannah Quinn, and Kate and Nora McCarthy. In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Finkel.
David’s life will be honored and remembered at a private family service. Memorial donations may be made in his name to UMass Memorial Health, to support oncology research, Office of Philanthropy, 365 Plantation St., Biotech One, Suite 301, Worcester, MA 01605. Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Perlman Center at Miles Funeral Home of Holden.
