HOLDEN – Daniel Cove Bazinet, 46, father, brother, lover, outdoorsman, and software engineer, died Sunday, July 6, 2008 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester after a courageous 11-year battle with breast cancer.
He is survived by his son, Quinn and Quinn's mother Cynthia of Holden; dear companion, Patricia Lambert of Westboro; brothers, Gregory of Portland, ME, David of Boston, Jonathan of Camden, SC, Christopher of Great Neck, NY, Timothy of Whittier, CA; aunt and Godmother, Nancy Cove of Webster; 10 nieces and nephews.
Dan was the sixth son of Edmond and Grace (Cove) Bazinet, both deceased, of Webster. He grew up in Webster where in graduated from Bartlett High School in 1980. Dan studied mechanical engineering at both UMass Amherst and UMass Lowell and later graduated from Boston University with a degree in Computer Science. He worked as a software engineer for several high tech industry leaders including GTE, Schlumberger, 3Com and most recently, Marvell Semiconductor in Marlboro.
Dan was an avid hiker, cyclist and nature photographer. He was an active member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and volunteered as a youth soccer coach and Cub Scout leader in Holden. Dan twice completed the Pan-Mass Challenge to raise money for the Jimmy Fund of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. His family is particularly appreciative of the love and care extended by the AMC membership as well as his many neighbors in Holden who tirelessly cooked and gardened for both Dan and his family.
A service celebrating Dan's Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be private. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Levine Cancer Center, 119 Belmont Street, Worcester, MA 01605; or AMC, 5 Joy Street, Boston, MA 02108; or to VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
