WORCESTER – Carol T. (Hurwitz) Woolf, 89, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 27 at Dodge Park Rest Home after a period of declining health.
Born in Boston, Carol was the daughter of Hyman and Gertrude (Geller) Hurwitz. Carol made her home and raised her two daughters in Worcester. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts, she pursued a decades-long career as a Home Economics teacher at Forest Grove Junior High School in Worcester, where she ran a successful cooking club for boys and girls, and eventually retired from teaching to become a realtor.
Carol will be lovingly missed and remembered by her daughters, Kathy Jonas of West Roxbury, and Amy Woolf of Chevy Chase, MD; her beloved grandchildren, David Jonas, Zachary Jonas, Johnny Byrne, and Danny Byrne; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Maeve Jonas and Eloise Jonas. She was predeceased by her sister, Nancy Hodes.
Her family would like to thank her long-term caregivers, Natalie and Patty, and Dodge Park Rest Home, for their empathy, compassion and help in Carol’s final years.
Family and friends will gather for a graveside funeral service at 11:45 AM on Sunday, December 31 at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home of Holden.
