PRINCETON & FT. HOOD, TEXAS – Captain Christopher J. Sullivan, 29, formerly of Princeton, Massachusetts, was killed in action in Iraq on Tuesday, January 18, 2005.
Christopher was born September 2, 1975 in Princeton. He graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in Holden, MA in 1993. Chris attended the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and graduated with a B.S. Mechanical Engineering in 1998, and received his commission in 1998 at WPI.
Chris entered active military service in 1998 and had been promoted on January 10, 2005 to Commander of Company A, 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment. His service includes serving with the 16th Cavalry Division based in Ft. Knox, Kentucky, the Kosovo peacekeeping mission, and the 1st Infantry Division based in Ft. Hood, Texas. He was deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom in January 2004.
Chris leaves behind his best friend and wife of three years Sandra (Letzner) originally from Senden, Germany, and his son David William, 19 months; his parents, James and Dorothy Sullivan of Princeton; his grandmother, Prudence Davidson of Lancaster; two sisters and their husbands, Jennifer and Edward Orr, Jr. of Epsom, New Hampshire and Amy and Stephen Lilley of Scarborough, Maine; two nephews, Ryan and James Lilley; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
His family and friends will remember Chris for his quick smile, amazing sense of humor, his generous and giving nature, and his deep love for his family. His family is proud of Chris and proud of his service to his country.
The funeral Mass for Christopher will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, in Prince of Peace Church, 1 Worcester Road (Rte. 31), Princeton. A memorial reception to honor Chris will be hosted by American Legion Post 183 in Shirley, MA, beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 29. Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, January 28, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 122A), Sterling.
