Bernard C. Walsh

HOLDEN – Bernard C. Walsh, 86, of Sherwood Hill Drive, died peacefully on Sunday, January 17, 2010, in Holden Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.

His wife of 58 years, Marjorie C. (Bernard) Walsh, died October 13, 2008. He leaves five sons, Martin C. Walsh of New York City, James F. Walsh of Fitchburg, Daniel B. Walsh of Hingham, David B. Walsh of Illinois and Michael J. Walsh of Oxford; a daughter, Kathleen A. Walsh of Holden; nine grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of Frank and Ann (Cunningham) Walsh and lived for over 50 years in Holden.

Bernard was a graduate of St. Peter's High School and Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II serving with the 9th Bomb Squadron, 7th Bomb Group during the China, Burma and India Theatre. He was the recipient of the air crew badge and two bronze stars. Bernard was a Mechanical Engineer at Bose Corporation in Framingham. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Jefferson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20th in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral for Bernard will be held Thursday, January 21st, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Spring burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Holden. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Mary's Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 2200, Jefferson, MA 01522.
